To help sustain HataHata, we would greatly appreciate it if you could support us with a small contribution by clicking the yellow button below, should you agree with our mission.
Please lend us your support to sustain and operate HataHata
HataHata is primarily managed by Kosuke Soka, a non-regular worker, with the aim of creating a space to share ideas and activities alongside those who support our mission. Due to the nature of this platform, we have refrained from soliciting financial support in the past, striving instead to cover costs through advertising revenue and other means to avoid placing a burden on our visitors.
However, the current economic conditions and challenges in the labor environment have significantly increased the burden of operational costs and the time required for updates. As a result, delays in updates and difficulties in continuing our activities have become more frequent. Your warm support would be a tremendous encouragement to sustain our efforts. We kindly ask for your cooperation to help us continue this work.
The Content and Purpose of HataHata
Each Individual Voice Has the Power to Transform Society
HataHata aims to shine a light on often-overlooked issues and perspectives in today’s world through contributions from multiple voices. By focusing on themes such as on-the-ground reports, poverty, and social justice, we strive to support those who take action to bring about change.
Your support plays a vital role in sustaining HataHata’s efforts and amplifying the voices that drive meaningful progress. Together, we can help create a more just and equitable society.
Introducing Movements in Japan to the World through Multilingual Content
While still in its early stages, HataHata is actively working to make its content multilingual, offering information in Japanese, English, and Korean. Through this initiative, we aim to introduce domestic issues, the efforts of people in Japan, and diverse perspectives to a global audience.
By sharing information from an international viewpoint that connects local communities with the world, HataHata seeks to bridge gaps and foster understanding across borders. Your support not only strengthens our efforts to address domestic issues but also helps us connect people worldwide through this platform.
Exhibition of Past Social Movement Materials
A distinctive feature of HataHata is its collection and public display of records and documents from social movements, primarily from the 1970s and 1980s. In many countries, it is common to study modern and contemporary history seriously, preserving valuable materials for research. However, in Japan, serious historical research or public sharing of such materials, unless driven by curiosity or criticism, is often met with disdain and skepticism.
As a result, even the participants of these movements rarely engage in critical reflections or a thorough examination of their history. This leads to “new movements” that often repeat the same mistakes, driven by a sense of self-righteousness.
Through its modest efforts, HataHata seeks to make its collection available to the public, offering a platform to reexamine the past from a modern perspective. By providing insights into the historical context of these movements, as well as theories of activism and organization, we hope to inspire meaningful lessons for the future.

Thank You
Thank you for your continued support!
We have received generous support from many people for HataHata over the years. At times, I feel disheartened, thinking that I haven’t been able to fully meet your expectations or adequately give back to you, while still writing about bold ideas. This has often left me stuck in a cycle of self-doubt and inaction.
Currently, while it may not be very visible on the surface, we are undertaking a major overhaul of the site in commemoration of our 20th anniversary. This is a chance for us to respond to your support and find ways to give back. I am determined to move forward without retreating into isolation, and I will strive to improve every day.
I kindly ask for your patience and continued support for HataHata as we move into the future. With gratitude, I humbly request your understanding as we continue this journey together.
